Community Activities

In addition to providing concerts, an important part of the Clear Creek Music Festival mission is to provide multiple opportunities for community members of all ages to be active participants in music making and to interact with the collegiate students. Some of the scheduled opportunities are listed below.  Register at the Hell’s Canyon Journal Office or contact us for more information.

Clear Creek Kids Chorus:     age 4-8 MWF’s 3:00 pm; age 9-13 MWF’s 4:00    scholarships available

Music making fun and games. Sing and learn pieces to perform either on the Main Street Stage or at the closing concert. Older group will join in the Bernstein celebration.  Contact for information

How to Sell a Song:  teens    Sat/Tues/Thurs’s  4:00-5:00

Bring a couple of your favorite songs, things you have performed or things you want to perform, and learn how to sing them stronger, more easily, and in a way that really grabs the audience.  The result is fun for all.  Registration includes participation in the Community/Festival Chorus to sing Bernstein and Ferrandino.

Improve you voice while singing great repertoire.  Past selections have ranged from Brahms to Bach to Rutter, spirituals, and world premiers. 
This summer we will celebrate  the centennial of Leonard Bernstein’s birth with several pieces and premier “On to Flagstaff Hill,” Scene 4 of Scenes from the Oregon Trail by Blaise Ferrandino featuring flutist Ruai Gregory, oboist Alex Hayashi, clarinettist Eddie Airheart, pianist David Yeomans and the Community/Festival chorus.   Be part of this Grand Finale!

Individual and Group Lessons for teens and adults: piano, voice, composition by arrangement with faculty.  Brass and woodwind group lessons may also be arranged.   contact for information

Meet the Musicians:  

Discussions on the Arts  Saturdays at 4:00  Pine Valley Presbyterian Church Faith Room

An opportunity to share ideas on creating art, whether it be painting, img_1479woodworking, crafting, music, poetry, or other forms.  Learn about the evolution of Scene V from “Scenes from the Oregon Trail.”  Participation is included with registration for the Community/Festival Chorus.
